IT'S A GOODBYE TO OGUN PDP CRISIS AS KASHAMU AND ADEBUTU FACTIONS UNITE
In a bid to put its house in order ahead of the forthcoming general election in Ogun state, leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, loyal to Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu and Hon Oladipupo Adebutu held a unification meeting today in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The meeting, which was largely attended by numerous leaders from both factions in the district, was held at the residential home of a top notch leader of the party, Chief Amodemaja.
In his opening speech, Hon Lekan Salako welcomed to the meeting. He explained that the principal reason for the meeting was to appeal to leaders and members of the warring factions (Kashamu and Adebutu), to please, sheath their sword and embrace unity for the sake of the party and Nigeria as a whole. Hon Salako insinuated that the greatest tragedy which locked the PDP out of government in Ogun State for eight solid years can be traced to disunity among the leaders of the party.
"For the past eight years which we have been out of government, I can authoritatively tell you that it is not the APC or any political Party that have been defeating us, rather, we are the architect of our own misfortunes One of the dangers of disunity is retrogression. Now is the time for all and sundry to bury whatever grievances they have and work assiduously for the party's victory in the coming elections. Let's unite and go to the polls as one big family," he said.
The spokesperson to Former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati, appreciated the attempt by the leaders to put an end to the lingering crisis in the party. He said what is more paramount now is the progress of the party, one of which according to him, is earning victory for the Party. Dr. Abati maintained that PDP is one in Ogun State. He noted that leaders and members of the party have come a long way together and it will be very difficult to win an election with a divided house.
Finally, Dr. Abati urged leaders present at the meeting to step up their efforts in fostering unity among the party members.
Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, while addressing Party faithful, expressed delight at seeing members from both faction holding such a family-like meeting. He assured that with this latest move, landslide victory awaits the Party at the forthcoming Polls. Apostle Sanyaolu also identified disunity as the major problem which had cause the Party so much setbacks in the past eight years. He enjoined the members of the Party to sit tight and take the reconciliation move so serious, adding that there should no longer be room for hatred and infights among the Party members.
In his closing remarks, Chief Amodemaja admonished Party faithfuls to go out and assure people that the PDP is one in Ogun state and is ready to work as one big family to achieve a common goal which is to win elections. It would be recalled that such meeting has reportedly taken place between the two warring factions in Ogun west senatorial district and one may not be totally wrong to say the PDP is coming out stronger in Ogun state.
