KASHAMU MOURNS IJEBU IGBO CHIEF IMAM
The lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu has condoled with the family and people of his hometown, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State over the death of the Chief Iman of Ijebu Igbo, the late Alhaji Aliyu Baoku.
Alhaji Baoku passed on to the great beyond in the early hours of today (Thursday)
In a statement released moments after the news broke, Kashamu described the late Chief Iman as a pious religious leader and peace-maker who worked for the good of the people and community.
The statement read in part, “As a spiritual leader that I knew and related with personally, the late Chief Imam was pious and selfless. He used his deep knowledge and understanding of Islam to promote joy, peace and love. Through his sermons, he drew attention to the will of the Almighty Allah and enjoined us to live right and endeavour to do good at all times.
"He was a bridge builder and peace-maker who stood for unity among Muslims and a champion of unity, equity and justice among the diverse people of Ijebu Igbo and its immediate neighbours. It is my prayer that the Almighty Allah will overlook his errors and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus."
Kashamu prayed God to comfort members of the survivors of the late Chief Imam, especially members of his immediate family, the Muslims and the entire Ijebu Igbo community.
